Body sculpting

Body sculpting devices of this kind make your muscles contract strongly and repeatedly while you lie still. Some add gentle heat.

Small studies of branded devices like these found improved muscle tone in the abdomen, measured a few months after a course. Those results apply to the devices that were studied, which may not be ours, so we don't promise a particular result.

Body sculpting isn't a weight-loss treatment, and none of the studies reported weight change. It suits people near a healthy, stable weight who would like more tone or definition.

Two packages combine 8 sessions of each treatment with a body analysis and progress measurements: Procare XP with EMS Shape, or Sculptor Pro with EMS Shape and lymphatic drainage, which also includes progress photos.

Body sculpting won't help with weight loss. If weight is your main concern, your GP is a good place to start.

   Step 1: Consultation and health check

   We talk through what you'd like to change, go through your medical history and check the devices are suitable for you.

   Step 2: Getting comfortable

   You lie down and the applicator is placed over the area, such as your abdomen or buttocks.

   Step 3: The session

   You'll feel strong muscle contractions that you don't control.

4. 4

   Step 4: Straight afterwards

   Your muscles may ache, rather like after a workout. You can go straight back to your day.

Common and expected

Muscle soreness, like after exercise.

Less common

Skin redness under the applicator, settling quickly.

Who can't have it

Devices like these aren't used over metal implants, or with a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, so we check your health first.
