What dermal fillers are

Dermal fillers are gels injected under the skin to add volume, define contours or soften lines. We use hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers from Revolax, Juvéderm, Restylane and Stylage.

As well as lips and our face packages, we treat single areas: the cheeks, chin, jawline, temples or mid-face, the lines from your nose to your mouth (nasolabial lines) or below the corners of your mouth (marionette lines), the nose, the earlobes and the backs of the hands. We'll plan the area, the product and how much you need with you.

HA filler results show straight away, and any swelling settles over the following days. Results aren't permanent: HA filler usually lasts from several months to about a year, depending on the product, the area and you.

If needed, HA filler can be dissolved with an enzyme, for example to treat a complication. We'll explain how we manage complications at your consultation.

We aim for subtle, natural-looking results. If filler isn't the right choice for what you'd like to change, we'll tell you.

Compare the options
Option What it is
Lip filler Subtle volume and shape, with 0.5 ml or 1 ml of Revolax, Juvéderm, Restylane or Stylage
Russian volume lips A lip filler technique, at one price. We'll explain how it differs from our standard lip filler at your consultation
Hollywood face packages 5 ml or 10 ml of Revolax, Restylane or Juvéderm. We plan the areas, and how many appointments, with you at your consultation
Filler by area One area at a time: cheeks, chin, jawline, temples, mid-face, nasolabial or marionette lines, the nose, earlobes or the backs of the hands. We agree the product and the amount with you at your consultation

Who it’s for

Adults only

Treatment is only for adults aged 18 and over.

Often a good fit if you

  • would like subtle volume in your lips, more definition in one area such as your cheeks, chin or jawline, or more balance across your face
  • understand that results are temporary and may need topping up
  • want a natural-looking result rather than a dramatic change

Not suitable, or we’ll wait, if you

  • are under 18
  • have a skin infection, spots or a cold sore in the area
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • are allergic to the filler or to lidocaine, a local anaesthetic many fillers contain
  • have a history of severe allergies

Not sure which area would help? We'll talk it through honestly at your consultation.

What happens on the day

  1. Step 1: Consultation and assessment

We talk through what you'd like to change, go through your medical history and look closely at your face, so your plan suits your features.

  2. Step 2: Preparing your skin

Your skin is cleansed. A numbing cream may be used, and many fillers also contain a local anaesthetic.

  3. Step 3: The treatment

The filler is injected in small amounts and shaped as we go. You may feel some stinging or burning.

  4. Step 4: Straight afterwards

Some redness, swelling or bruising is normal. You'll get aftercare advice, including the warning signs to look out for.

Recovery and results

  1. Straight away

You'll see the result straight away, with some swelling.

  2. The first few days

Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising, usually clearing within 7 to 14 days.

  3. After about 2 weeks

Swelling has settled and you can see your result more clearly.

  4. Longer term

HA filler gradually breaks down, usually over several months to about a year.

Aftercare

Please do

  • Contact us straight away if you have increasing pain, or skin that turns white, blue or dusky. If your vision changes, call 999 or go to A&E.
  • Let any swelling settle before judging your result.
Please avoid

Sun, sunbeds and tanning While swelling settles
Touching or massaging the area About 3 days, unless we advise you to

Risks and side effects

Common and expected
Redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising, usually clearing within 7 to 14 days. Filler in the backs of the hands can make some everyday tasks harder at first.
Less common
Lumps or ridges, over-filling, skin discolouration, infection or an allergic reaction. These are more likely with inexperienced providers.
Rare but serious
Filler can block a blood vessel. This can damage the skin and, very rarely, cause loss of vision. It needs urgent treatment, which is why we explain the warning signs to look out for. The risk varies by area: one guideline rates the nose as very high risk, and the temples, nasolabial lines and under-eyes as high risk. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration advises against filler in the nose. We'll talk this through with you before you choose an area.

Your questions

Which areas can you treat?

Lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, temples, mid-face, nasolabial and marionette lines, the nose, earlobes and the backs of the hands, or several areas in a face package. If filler isn't the right choice for an area, we'll tell you.

Can filler change the shape of my nose?

Filler can change how the nose looks without surgery, but the nose is one of the highest-risk areas for a blocked blood vessel. We'll explain the risks, and whether it suits you, at your consultation.

How long do fillers last?

HA fillers usually last from several months to about a year, depending on the product, the area and you.

Is it painful?

You may feel some stinging or burning. Numbing cream, and fillers that contain a local anaesthetic, help.

Will I be swollen?

Some swelling, redness or bruising is common, and usually settles within 1 to 2 weeks.

Can filler be dissolved?

HA filler can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. We'll explain how we manage complications at your consultation.

What are the serious risks?

Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel, which needs urgent treatment. We'll explain the warning signs at your appointment.

Which filler do you use?

Hyaluronic acid fillers from Revolax, Juvéderm, Restylane and Stylage. We'll explain your options at your consultation.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. Fillers are only for adults aged 18 and over, and it's against the law in England to give them to anyone younger.
